How do I cancel a sign-up?

Cancel through the link in your confirmation, at least 24 hours before the shift. Cancelling is free. If you cannot find the link, ask a coordinator.

Who this applies to

This applies to anyone who signed up for a shift and can no longer go.

How it works

  1. Find your confirmation from the organization.
  2. Use the cancel link in it, at least 24 hours before the shift.
  3. If you asked the assistant to record your sign-up for reminders, tell the assistant you want to cancel it.
  4. The assistant cancels the record on Volunnear's side and offers other opportunities.
  5. If you cannot find the link, ask a coordinator.

What to know

  • Cancelling is free.
  • The organization's own sign-up may need cancelling too. The assistant tells you this when it cancels a record.
  • A cancelled record gets no more reminders.
  • Please do not skip a shift without cancelling.
  • After three no-shows, a coordinator may pause new sign-ups.
  • The assistant never says a cancellation worked unless the system confirms it.

An example

Tomas in Brooklyn cannot make Saturday's shift because of work. On Thursday he uses the cancel link in his confirmation. He also tells the assistant, which cancels his reminder and shows two other weekend options.

What we cannot do

  • Cancel for you inside the organization's own system.
  • Cancel a sign-up the assistant never recorded.
  • Change an organization's own cancellation rules.

Need a person?

Ask for a coordinator if you cannot find your link. Say "I need to cancel and I cannot find my confirmation."
