Volunnear

Does Volunnear guarantee me a volunteer spot?

No. Each partner organization decides who it accepts and when. Volunnear shows opportunities and links, and the organization confirms sign-ups.

Fictional policy for a demo non-profit. Last reviewed 2026-10-18.

Who this applies to

This applies to every opportunity and every volunteer, including groups and court-ordered or school hours.

How it works

  1. Pick one or more listings that fit.
  2. Sign up on each organization's page.
  3. Watch for the organization's confirmation.
  4. If a spot is full, ask the assistant for other options.
  5. If nothing fits, ask for a coordinator.

What to know

  • Volunnear shows opportunities and links.
  • Sign-ups are confirmed by the organization.
  • Spots can fill before you sign up.
  • If nothing fits, a coordinator can look for options by hand, with no promise of a result.
  • The assistant never promises a placement, a date, or hours credit.
  • After you ask a coordinator for help, you can give your volunteer code later to check the status of that request.
  • Signing up on a page is a request to the organization, so a confirmation from the organization is the only sign that a spot is yours.

An example

Omar in Queens finds a food pantry shift but it is full when he opens the link. He asks the assistant for other options and gets two more. He signs up for one and waits for its confirmation.

What we cannot do

  • Guarantee a place or a date.
  • Hold a spot for you.
  • Overrule an organization's decision.

Need a person?

Ask for a coordinator if nothing fits. Say "Nothing fits my schedule and I would like help."
